Overview:

Selected applicants will be on a crew with 3 other youth interns working in all four districts of the Dixie National Forest(Cedar City, Pine Valley, Panguitch, and Escalante) performing field work for recreation, wildlife, timber, and range programs. Main focus will be on understanding public land usage and building connections.

Responsibilities:

  • This position requires a commitment to safety, and completion of assigned projects while following assigned tasks correctly and in a timely manner.

  • Ability to adhere to all rules and regulations of the IIC Intern Guidebook while working 10-hour days, outside in various weather conditions and terrain.

  • Ability to be respectful and considerate to all team members, land managers, and visitors.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to attend and complete all training alongside other crew members.

  • Must be at least 16-18 years old with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn, an understanding of outdoor environments and an interest in public lands.

  • Possess a positive attitude, flexibility and commitment to the program while having basic knowledge of tools, the ability to lift 25 lbs. and hike long distance.
